Bathtub discipline

We all have things we cling to that soothe us, get us through tough times and reset our minds on Jesus.

I’m going to give you two daily rituals that work for me. (One that I’ve found indispensable might surprise you.) These morning and evening regimes are super simple and I hope they serve you as well as they have me.

Starting the day

I journal every morning to clear my head and organize my thoughts. I write what’s on my mind, any impressions I have from my Bible reading and the prayers that are consuming my thoughts.

What really helps reset my attitude and soothe any angst is journalling what I’m thankful for.

I’ve done this a couple ways.  One way is to set a timer for 1 minute and see how many things I can list before the timer goes off. Another way to journal my thankfulness is to write till the page is filled.

Truly, if you suffer from anxiety, negativity or fear, try journalling all that you’re thankful for and you may very well experience God’s peace and pleasure.

Soothing night time regime

I discovered that an evening mini baptism in my extra-deep clawfoot tub soothes many of the worries and quiets the snarky thoughts in my head. A quiet soak softens the hurts and missteps, mistakes and messiness of my day.

There is something calming that happens in a bathtub that I can’t duplicate in the shower. A bath soaks away the day’s stresses and messes. When I get out of the tub, I’m not just clean, I’m refreshed.

What about you? What’s a daily routine that serves you well?

Scripture refresher: I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. (Ezek. 35: 25-28 NIV)

Prayer:  God, I neglect you so often.  Forgive me.  I want to know you better and I want to be fully known and feel safe with you.  God, will you woo me?  Will you continue to pursue me until I get it?  I love you, Lord. Amen.

The best part of my day is listening thru journaling.
I’m a shower girl, not bathtub, but when I feel anxious or need a cuddle I ask Abba Father to sing ? over me.
We have access on our phones to such amazing worship.
Try it! Close your eyes & ask Him.

    Hi Robyn,
Thank you so much for sending these encouraging emails. They encourage my soul and make me smile.

Just wondered what your favorite bathtub product was. Thought I’d go shopping and pick up a Journal & some bath salts and start a new routine.

Thank you for sharing and God Bless!
