Mary or Martha. . . Becoming My Own Object Lesson!

My son’s room was a disaster area.

Stacks of magazines, motorcycle paraphernalia, and

a week’s worth of socks and underwear covered the floor.

He had one little bitty space on his huge desk that

wasn’t covered with paper or doodads or books.

The bed was disheveled and the window blinds were all catawampus.

How could a kid whose brain organized data to get straight As live in this chaos?

When he invited me in to talk, I hesitated at the doorway.

He was wearing a sad face and a T-shirt that read:

How do you handle BIG change?

In the time before YouTube or Food Network, before Google was a noun and a verb, we used to find things to make for dinner in thick-paged volumes filled with ideas to bring tasty nutrition to the table.

These volumes were called cookbooks.

Frustrated by the time-consuming effort to make dinnertime both flavorful and healthy, my friend Jennifer bought herself a new cookbook called Once a Month Cooking. The cookbook detailed how to prep thirty entrees in one day, freeze them, and use them throughout the month. Her plan was to cook together, double everything, make sixty meals, and split the bounty between us.

Jennifer thought it was genius.

I thought it was harebrained.

Until …

Just Say Yes!

A girlfriend I’d been wanting to know better called and asked if I’d like to get together.

Maybe go for a walk.

“Hmmm, what does that mean?” I asked suspiciously.
“Well, we could go for a walk and talk,” she replied.
Like it was a normal thing to do!

This is not a good idea, I thought.
I hadn’t exercised in a long time.
I don’t own yoga pants or exercise clothes.
The closest thing to a walking shoe I own is a

Hello Friend,

Two Reasons that Hinder Your Prayers

Hello Girlfriend,

When you pray, do you expect God will consider your request? When you pray fervently, it makes a difference.

One reason prayers are delayed or unanswered is that we have no expectation or faith that God will move. Pray specifically and with anticipation of an answer! Another reason prayers are thwarted is because we are not in agreement with each other or God about what we really want to happen.

When was the last time you prayed a big bold specific prayer?
What was the outcome?
I’d love to hear from you.

Many Blessings on your day!

What Do People Remember about You?

Hello Girlfriend,

Did you know you stick in people’s memories?
Unfortunately, we can’t decide what they remember, as you will see……

So, now the question is what do people remember about you?
Tell me your story!

Blessings on your day,

Jesus, Stop That Car!

Hello Friend,

When you need help in a hurry, there’s just one thing to do……call on Jesus.
I haven’t always known to do that.
I haven’t always thought to do it even after I knew to do it.
But, I have learned that Jesus is the only answer in desperate situations.

How about you?
Do you have to come to the end of yourself before you think to call on Jesus?
He doesn’t always do what I ask, but he always answers.

What was the last time you needed a big prayer answered?
How did it turn out?

Blessings on your day,

How Do You Hear I Love You?

Hello Friend,

How do you demonstrate the love of Jesus?

Volumes have been written, but my friend taught me a simple and powerfully effective way to demonstrate the love of Jesus.
Watch and see if her idea resonates with you.

So, what do you think?
Not for everyone? I suppose not, but the power of human touch to show the love of Christ can’t be denied.

Tell me if you have a hugging friend or if you are a hugger.
In this world of politicly correctness, let’s not lose touch.

Blessings on your day,
