You Have A Good Father

It’s Father’s Day

I hope you have a man in your life worthy of celebrating. A father who loves and protects you. A husband who partners with you in life and ministry. A spiritual leader who guides you with wisdom.

I hope your day is full of BBQs and fire pit conversations. I hope you laugh about silly stories and old memories. If that’s true for you, celebrate that man well today. Buy the coffee cup that says #1 Dad and spend time together.

The ugly truth is that many women do not have a good father figure in their life.

Broken homes lead to broken hearts,
and broken hearts lead to broken lives.

God longs to be your Good Good Father.

  • He says, “Come to me,” in Matt. 11:28
You may not have the dad you want, but God will be the father you need.
  • He says, “I am the father to the fatherless,” in Ps. 68:5.
You don’t have to be an orphan to experience being fatherless. If your dad is gone or incapacitated or even derelict, God will be your Father.
  • He says, “I will be your first line of defense.” in Deuteronomy 10:18.
Father God defends the cause of the fatherless, going before you and standing at your rear guard.
  • He says, “I will fight for you.”
“Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” Ps. 100:1 Who better to fight your battles than our God?
  • He says, “I will give you shelter.”
“For [your] father had forsaken you, but the Lord will take you in.” says Ps. 27:10 Slide under his might arm and rest in his strength.
  • He says, “I will help you.”
The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless…  Psalm 146:9

I hope you know and trust your dad.

If your dad is gone or you don’t have the father you want … a dad who will love and accept you, who will protect and run interference for you, who will stop what he’s doing to listen and guide you, remember that you do have a Father in Heaven who longs to be all those things for you.

Happy Father’s Day.

Leave me a comment below telling me about your good good father.

Verse for today: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. – John 14:18 ESV

Prayer: God, even the best of earthly dads will fall short of your perfection, provision and protection. Father God, be my dad, my papa, my father and my daddy. Fill in the gaps left open by men who can not or will not be there for us. I lean into you today and trust you to keep your word. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Thank you so much for this wonderful article! My dad died several years ago, but I’m fortunate enough to treasure his memory. I was born with a disability called “spina bifida. Many marriages don’t survive the additional challenge of a disabled child, but Daddy took it upon himself to join with Mom in not only helping her to take care of me but also my four siblings in addition to his full-time job working for General Motors. He also helped Mom with many of her other duties. While other dads during that era (the 50’s, etc.), would likely have had the attitude, “That’s not MY job!”, Daddy did consider helping Mom his job, and I will be forever grateful for the stability that attitude added to our home life!

    Good morning
I was not blessed to have children. But we have 3 beautiful Goddaughters.
I called my Dad yesterday he’s moving small items into his room. at 24 hour facility. He can’t cook anymore and forgets to take his medications.

Oh Lisa, I’m so sorry. It’s hard to watch parents lose their strength. I’m glad he has you.

Absolutely beautiful and a perfect reminder of our Father in heaven and our Father who is with us, sees us, hears us and loves us.
    Thank you

I was blessed to have a wonderful Christian dad. He served God faithfully for 68 years until he passed. I had a great Christian father in law too). I have been married nearly 54 years to my most precious, wonderful Godly husband. I am most blessed! Thank you God!!
